Technical Game Level Designer

My missions :

As Technical Level designer my tasks were as follows :

 

  • Level creation and integration on Unreal Engine 5 :

Based on a historical or creative brief, I had to create gameplay elements that would be fun and correspond to a given historical situation. 

 

  • Creation and adaptation of Blueprint :

I had the opportunity to create and optimize existing code to adapt certain gameplay elements. In particular, I was able to modify certain Blueprints to fit in better with others. 
 

  • UI optimization and implementation :

I was in charge of implementing part of the UI, in particular the settings. Through this Blueprint, I was able to suggest different ways of managing display and sound settings, depending on the player's resolution.

  • Using 3DS Max to create objects and splines :

3D elements and splines were created in 3Dsmax, so that new vertices could be generated quickly and easily, without having to manage UVs.

  • Using Perforce for data management :

Finally, to manage our respective work and progress, we needed to be organized and not work on top of each other's work. Perforce enabled us to quickly pull and push the modifications we needed. 

 

  • Creation and implementation of AI with varied behaviors :

For some levels with IA, adverse behaviors were expected to create a challenge. I try to get a behavior that was logical, fluid and fun, and I worked on several AI models to offer an interesting challenge to the player.
 

  • Optimization and creation of a sound class system to manage sounds: 

I optimized and organized the project's sound bank. 
To set up the sound settings, I had the opportunity to create and use a mixer as well as sound classes to manage the sounds. In the same way, certain sounds in the game required a bit of mixing to make them more audible.
